THE JAMES FAMILY

From Armagh, Ireland.

Robert James was born in 1780 in Armagh, Ireland and there he married Mary Bell and had eleven children.

Robert wished to emigrate to Canada, but first sent his son Francis who purchased land in Hillier. James, a younger brother, later joined Francis and together they built a log house. Eventually the whole family made their way to Prince Edward County. Robert died in Hillier at the age of ninety in 1870.

His son. Robert, took over the homestead and the older brothers purchased farms in the area.
