Transcribed here by Linda Herman Pioneers of Prince Edward County BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES SAMUEL FARRINGTON Mother arrived on her own with four sons. The Farringston family which arrived in Prince Edward County consisted of a mother with her four sons, Edward, Joseph, Samuel and James. The difficulties encountered by the dauntless pioneers were trebled for a widow attempting to raise four children alone. However, the courageous Mrs. Farrington did just that. Edward married Mary A. Keller, of German extraction, and lived in South Marysburgh. They had eleven children all of whom, with one exception lived in South Marysburgh. Deborah, the youngest, settled in Athol. She became the second wife of William Starks. George P. married Eliza Chambers, of Irish-Scottish descent, while Angeline married Norman Ostrander. Philip married Lydia Hudgin. George M. Farrington married Augusta Woods. He carried on a very successful business enterprise in Picton, while at the same time serving on the town council and organizing a town band.
